  • "This book project presents a series of in-depth interviews with women in the art world. All interviews were completed between 2019-2022 and were organized by the art critic, curator and cultural journalist Jacquelyn Davis. There are approximately a dozen international contributors in this project. Specific areas of interest revolve around the recent global women's movement (#metoo #notsurprised #timesup #march8 #believewomen) which originates both from the Marxist-influenced initiative to boycott/strike specific institutions, companies and individuals (on International Women's Day) who mistreat and/or discriminate against women in the workplace and in life - as well as Tarana Burke's 2006 grassroots initiative which was magnified by the US political climate in response to former President Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Woody Allen, etc. Select international women creatives, arts professionals and activists were interviewed regarding their rapport with feminism, politics, law and society. These documented exchanges often delve into uncomfortable or difficult topics; they also investigate the future of art and culture as it relates to women's aspirations, equality, notions of democracy and failure. The goal of this project is to give back to the art world and assist with the current women's movement by initiating pointed in-depth dialogue as archival tool - to provide insight for those invested in the art world as it both stands and relates to women. This project aims to be transformative by providing a diverse series of candid text-based dialogues which suggest strategies for reform and empowerment"-- Provided by publisher.
