In the 1970s, evolution and euphoria gave way to horror scenarios of environmental devastation and air pollution, which made survival on earth only seem possible with breathing apparatus or in sealed protective spaces. Trust in technology and creativity was so great, however, that even these problems appeared solvable.The Haus-Rucker-Co group began working on a radical new architectural concept in Vienna in 1967 and developed utopian objects for the expansion of perception and communication until 1977.Today, the 'crazy world' of Haus-Rucker-Co (Rucker is to be understood in the sense of Weiterrücken, 'moving on' or 'shifting') is frequently quoted and developed further by young contemporaries.Architectural Utopia Reloaded is a detailed study of their innovative power and follows the origins of the laboratory and outer space aesthetics of the 1960s all the way through to the 2000s.Published on the occasion of the exhibition Haus-Rucker-Co: Architectural Utopia Reloaded at 22 November 2014 - 22 February 2015.English and German text.
