Anmärkning: Innehållsbeskrivning, sammanfattning
  • This book documents about 200 works of the artist, choreographer, dancer and writer Simone Forti, demonstrating her incredible diversity. Forti's examinations of the relationship between object and body in interaction with mental processes and language make an important contribution to art at the interface of sculpture and performance. Experiment and improvisation have always been crucial to Simone Forti's artistic modus operandi. The artist known as a pivotal figure of postmodern dance and minimal art, once stated: "I am interested in what we learn about the world through our bodies". One of her most famous works is the celebrated Dance Constructions (1960/61) which incorporate minimal objects made of plywood and ropes, and which created radically new ways of looking at dance. This book showcases her range of artistic media including holograms, drawing, sound pieces, videos and documentations of performances. Essays by specialists assess and establish the new precedents set by Forti's work.
