General Note
  • Dennis Oppenheim (b.1938) has received international attention for a conceptual oeuvre spanning performance, video, sculpture, installation, and land art. In the early 1970s, Oppenheim was in the vangard of artists using film and video to investigate the body and performance. This portfolio includes a selection of works known as the Aspen Projects (1970-74), in which Oppenheim uses his own body as a site to challenge conceptions of the self. In these works, the artist explores the boundaries of personal risk, bodily transformation, and interpersonal communication.
