1. The adventure of a good citizen = Przygoda czlowieka poczciwego (1937) (10 min.), an irrational humoresque, the last film the Themersons made before leaving Poland, is a social satire in the form of a fable. It is the story of a simple man who wants to escape from convention by walking backwards. Other citizens in the film protest, as did the ciritcs when the film was first screened.
2. Calling Mr. Smith = Wzywamy pana Smitha (1943) (10 min.) was commissioned as a propaganda film to bring to the attention to the British public the tragedy that Europe was suffering under fascism. Powerfully expressive, it experiments with Dufay colour, combining still images, photograms and newsreel footage.
3. The eye and the ear = Oko i ucho (1944/45) (10 min.) was the Themersons' ambitious last film. They returned to the more elegiac, near-abstract use of photograms and photography of the 1930s, in an attempt to express sound through visual images. Each of the four songs by Karol Szymanowski is given a different visual interpretation.
