  • 1. Interview with Saskia Holmkvist (2005, 8'40) -- 2. Make believe (2004, 6') -- 3. Eight Martini (2004, 4') -- 4. System (2001, 5')
  • 1. The focus of the film, Interview with Saskia Holmkvist, is on what is conceived as real and authentic and shows that everything can be corrected or improved. The film is made as a reportage about an artist and deals with questions of representation and slanted messages. It also deals with the need of a strategy to have success, and one way might be to improve one's social competence.
  • 2. What makes us believe in something? “Make believe” deals with this question, with a magician as example. The credibility of a system and what we choose to rely on or understand within a framework. Magic is without doubt a manipulative situation. But also a practice based on an agreement on entertainment between the magician and his audience. an entertainment that sums up in questions on illusion and trustworthiness. The magician or illusionist fools our reason and juggles with understanding and logics. He deliberately puts our ration sorting out of oder. One thing is said an another done. Poses to have hones intentions and turns to our logics in words, but does the opposite in practice. The collision between them becomes a mental somersault to the viewer.
  • 3. “Eight Martini” was an internal expression within the CIA. It was synonymous with successful results and external acknowledgement. In the film, the coming into being of the expression Eight Martini, is told to us. We know the genre of the speakers voice from scientific TV programs where a didactic language is used. Along with the story being told we are invited to guess the image that develops on screen. During the film the viewer is put to correlate image and story into one understanding but in fact it's three different expressions that have points of contact but no evident connection; a historical documentary, a didactic narration, and a party game.
  • 4. In the film [System] we confront what happens when apparently rational decisions prove to have devastating results in real life. How deeds can hit back on themselves if multiplicity isn't respected. A dilemma that one has to deal with as every act can't be for seen and we don't want to stop development. On the screen an insect is seen. It keeps flying seemingly tireless on its path. At the same time we hear three stories, based on reality. They are gathered from China, Libya and Australia. Different kinds of problems emerge and to solve them, efficient systems are created.
